Clever Quality can give you greater control over your quality processes and allows you to just set it up and go! It is designed to provide a way of setting up quality points within your processes and uses various different ‘checks’ and ‘rules’ to ensure your manufactured and purchased products are always good quality before they get dispatched to customers. As well as minimal waste during the manufacturing process and happy customers who are completely satisfied with what they receive and return to purchase from you again.
These ‘checks’ and ‘rules’ utilise automation to detect issues before it’s too late, reduce quality control costs and establish in what scenarios a quality order gets created. Clever Quality uses the following categories of quality checks:
- Scheduled checks
- In-process manufacturing checks
- Inbound inventory checks
- Pre-posting checks
Scheduled checks are just that! Simply set up the test to run through your production line at a specific time, to check whether anomalies are detected, such as metal fragments. This type of check is ultra important for food manufacturers and ensures there are no rouge objects in the batch, improving your quality control and maintaining your reputation.
In-process manufacturing checks will run a test when the manufacturing hits a particular step during production. A check will be made during the manufacturing process rather than waiting until the end, and a decision will be made whether the manufactured goods are good enough to proceed or whether they should be scrapped or reworked. This check helps you to identify issues earlier and can cut your scrapped materials bill dramatically by performing a pre-scheduled check in the middle of the process rather than the end – saving you time and money.
Inbound inventory checks help you to ensure that your purchased product is good enough quality to sell to your customers. Once they are delivered a quality order is automatically created to perform a defined set of quality checks, if the quality standard is good it is recorded as such in Business Central, if of a poor standard they can be quarantined or a purchase return created so the items can be sent back to your supplier. This check is also trackable so you can see if there are consistent problems with the products being sent from the vendor and take action if required.
Pre-posting checks catch the order just before they are sent out to the customer. During the picking and packing of the order, a manual quality check is carried out by the warehouse employee and signed off for delivery before the Warehouse Shipment is completed so the goods can carry on their journey or the problem is rectified before it leaves your warehouse. Alternatively, the Warehouse Receipt can be checked the moment it arrives in your warehouse, should you wish to check the temperature of the delivery vehicle on receipt.
These checks keep all the information within your Dynamics 365 Business Central System so everything related to a product is in one place. When used with Clever Document Delivery you can add photos and documents too.
Also, the checks are completely traceable, which is often required in food and consumables manufacturing. There’s a record of all the checks being done and gives full reassurance that the products are up to standard before they leave you to go to the customer – no disputes!
